Serge Alinhac (1948-) received his PhD from l'Universit� Paris-Sud XI (Orsay). After teaching at l'Universit� Paris Diderot VII and Purdue University, he has been a professor of mathematics at l'Universit� Paris-Sud XI (Orsay) since 1978.
