Saul Steinberg
Saul Steinberg is best known as the man behind the much imitated View of the World From Ninth Avenue. Noted for elevating comic illustration to the level of fine art, his fans include the author John Updike, who wrote: 'Something subversive remained in his art, undermining the intuitive connection between what we see and what we know, calling into question, like a good metaphysician, the bases of our experience.' Penguin has previously published two volumes of Steinberg's cartoons.
