Sandy Nairne

Sandy Nairne is a writer and curator based in London. From 2002-15 he was Director of the National Portrait Gallery, London, where he oversaw the expansion of its exhibitions and an increase in its annual visitors to 2 million. He has worked as Director of Exhibitions at the ICA, Director of Visual Arts for the Arts Council of Great Britain and Director of Programmes at Tate. He has worked as Director of Exhibitions at the ICA, Director of Visual Arts for the Arts Council of Great Britain and Director of Programmes at Tate. Currently he chairs the Fabric Advisory Committee at St Paul's Cathedral and the Art Advisory Group for Maggie's cancer centres. He is Deputy Chair of the National Trust and a member of the Bank of England Banknote Character Advisory Committee. In 2011 Sandy Nairne was appointed CBE. See less
