Mr. Sandy Jackson is a retired substance abuse counselor living in Mount Olive, North Carolina. He is hearing impaired, having worn hearing aids for over forty years. He admires the courage and perseverance of the hearing and vision impaired in meeting the challenges of life and overcoming the barriers that go along with them. He is a firm believer that God loves everyone and that no one should think less of themselves because of their difference. Differences are only in the mind, he reasons. He hopes that this brief story will inspire those who struggle with vision and hearing impairments. This is Sandy's first children's book. He hopes the ideas will flow for the adventures of Dean and Daisy as well as stories on overcoming other handicaps. He credits God for all of his creative ideas. Sandy has also published his first general audience book this year, entitled It's a Happy Life on the Merry-go-Round. The book is a compilation of his writings over the past 25 years, or more, and contains poems, prose, and songs. The writings run from silly to serious. A good deal of the writings are spiritual and reflect in their content his belief in Jesus Christ. Believing one's gifts from God are for the purpose of helping others and glorifying God, fifty percent of the profit from his book sales will be donated to the Wounded Warriors Fund. One of his poems, "The Wrong Side of the Flowers," is about an American soldier on foreign soil, worried if he will ever see his wife and children again.
