Ruben Toledo was born in Havana in 1961 and has lived for many years in New York. He has designed mannequins, store windows, award statuettes, scarves, fabrics, dishes and carpets. His witty and incisive illustrations appear in "The New Yorker, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Town & Country, Paper, Visionaire, Interview" and "The New York Times." He is the author of "Style Dictionary, " a collection of his drawings and watercolors, and recently completed his first film, an animated history of French fashion. His work has been exhibited throughout the world, at venues including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and he is currently at work on the installation and catalogue for an exhibition at the Mode Museum Antwerp and the V&A in London.
