Roger Bartlett is Emeritus Professor of Russian History in the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, UCL. After postgraduate studies in Oxford and Moscow, he taught at Keele University before moving to London, and has held visiting positions at Cornell, Harvard, Marburg, Nottingham, Paris (EHESS) and Riga.
