Rod Collins is an award winning author and the creator of the fictional Sheriff Bud Blair series, a set of contemporary Western murder mysteries staged primarily in Oregon's High Desert, but which also stray into the Puget Sound area in Washington, and as far south as Alamos, Mexico. Readers are saying nice things about Spider Silk, Stone Fly, Bloodstone, and Mariah's Song. Bitter's Run is a departure from the Bud Blair novels. Collins says, "I've always wanted to write a frontier novel, but the notion of a quick draw Western rapidly evolved into an historical novel set in the early months after Lee surrendered to Grant at Appomattox." After a thirty-year career with the US Forest Service, he set out to pursue his lifelong ambition to be a writer. Five novels later (and one non-fiction work, "What Do I Do When I Get There?") his writing projects include another Bud Blair novel with Detective (Retired) Dell BeBe leading the way. See less
