Dr. Richard Selznick is a psychologist, nationally certified school psychologist, assistant professor of pediatrics, school consultant and Wilson-certified reading instructor. He is the Director of the Cooper Learning Center, a Division of the Department of Pediatrics/ Cooper University Healthcare. Dr. Selznick is the author of three books: The Shut-Down Learner: Helping Your Academically Discouraged Child ( 9781591810780) , School Struggles: A Guide To Your Shut-Down Learner's Success (9781591811787) , and Dyslexia Screening: Essential Concepts for Schools & Parents (9781631925894) . He has presented to parents and educators in places as far as Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and throughout the United States. A down-to-earth communicator who presents complex issues without jargon, he strives to help parents "get it." Dr. Selznick has a particular passion and interest for helping parents understand dyslexia and related reading disorders. He is the host of an internet-based radio show, School Struggles, where he discusses a range of topics, including dyslexia, learning disabilities, ADHD, and challenging behavior in children. He is also a facilitator of parenting groups with the program Parenting the Love & Logic Way and is called upon by local community groups to offer his understanding of parenting and raising children in the 21st century.
