Red Rohl resides in the mountains of Western North Carolina where he has been a teacher for the last 20 years. Currently, Red teaches at-risk students in a local middle school. Red Rohl resides in the mountains of Western North Carolina where he has been a teacher for the last 20 years. Currently, Red teaches at-risk students in a local middle school. A love for children coupled with a knack for drawing has naturally led him to incorporate his sketches into lessons; captivating students with a mix of art and humor. As the years went on, Red collected these drawings; storing them safely in his grandfather's old army trunk. Now after 25 years with the encouragement of students who have reached out to him, Red has been motivated to compile his sketches with short stories to create his debut graphic novel, Heavy Sketches Among Worldly Distractions. "This book is not just for reluctant readers or educating students on important issues. It is also a book that is meant to inspire students to pursue their dream, never give up and become what they have within them to be." When he is not teaching or creating books, Red can be found taking care of the many animals at the Blue Heart Sanctuary, a non-profit animal sanctuary that he and his wife founded and operate.
