He began taking guitar lessons at the age of seven; did a music concentration at an Ottawa French-language high school for the arts, where he played guitar, classical percussion and drums; and studied classical guitar at the University of Ottawa. He finished his music degree at Montreal's Concordia University, specializing in Jazz Drum Set Performance.
