Phyllis Franklin is a writer living in northeast Florida. She homemakes, homeschools, and homesteads {in her free time}. She grew up in the small town of Live Oak, Florida and always knew that she wanted to be a writer. But if you'd told her back then that she was going to be a wannabe-farmer, she would've laughed. Phyllis graduated from the University of Florida in 2007 with a degree in business. Over the years she has been a student, crafter, real estate broker & appraiser, mortgage broker, photographer, pilot, pizza delivery driver, mother, and wife. When the real estate bubble popped in Florida, her life changed drastically. Her family went from a comfortable 4 bedroom 2 bath ranch to living in an efficiency (chronicled at Beach Cheap below). Because of the economy, she became interested in self-sufficient living. She and her family bought a small country property in 2012 and are in the process of transforming it into a mini-farm. This journey is chronicled at Evolution of a FarmGirl (below). She published a portion of her first novel as a novella/teaser called "How I Became A Mermaid" in April of 2012 and was astonished at its reception. "The Invitation of the Ocean" is her debut novel. It is available in print on CreateSpace and Amazon as well as on Kindle. She blogs at http: //evolutionofafarmgirl.blogspot.com and previously blogged at http: //beachcheap.blogspot.com Find her on FaceBook -- ... See less
