Philip Hayward is an adjunct professor in the School of Communication at the University of Technology Sydney. His doctoral degree at Macquarie University, Sydney (Australia), completed in 1996, concerned intercultural communication between Australian and Papua New Guinean performers on the Tabaran music project.
