Dr. Philip D. Darney is Distinguished Research Professor, Emeritus, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences, UCSF, and Director Emeritus and Senior Scholar, UCSF's Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health. Under his direction, the Bixby Center has conducted investigations of contraception and abortion for the California and Federal governments, foundations, and pharma, and trained gynecologists from all over the world in family planning research. Over the past 50 years, Dr. Darney has served as scientific advisor and field evaluator to the US Agency for International Development, the Centers for Disease Control, and many NGOs. He has served as a visiting professor and consultant to universities and governments around the world. He has received awards for his contributions to medical research and education from ACOG, PPFA, and APHA, among others, and is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine. See less
