Phil Whitaker is the author of three previous novels: Eclipse of the Sun , which won the Mail on Sunday /John Llewellyn Rhys Prize and a Betty Trask Award, and was shortlisted for the Whitbread First Novel Award; Triangulation , which was joint winner of the Encore Award for best second novel, and The Face , which was published in 2001.
