Peter Reese Doyle was born in Pensacola, Florida, into a Navy family that moved often as he was growing up. He graduated from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, and met Sally Ann Jackson in the cast of The Common Glory, an historic drama and tourist attraction that ran for several decades in Williamsburg, Virginia. Sally Ann was training for a career in ballet in New York. They married and later lived in Africa, then in Switzerland, before returning to the States. The Doyle's have two children and five grandchildren, they enjoy traveling, and now reside in Opelika, Alabama. Doyle has published twelve books in the Daring Adventure Series, and three in the Drums of War Series. The Daring books are novels for readers nine years old and up, and tell of the hair-raising adventures of three teens as they travel in present-day Africa and Western Europe. The three (so far) books in the Drums of War series are historical novels telling of teens growing up during our War for Independence. These young folk meet and interact with the leaders of that struggle for constitutional government and the protection of Anglo-Saxon religious and political liberties. Doyle hopes to tell the history of that war, and describe many of the battles that were fought, the leaders of that struggle, and the principles for which the fight was waged. See less
