Perry D Slocum
The late Perry D. Slocum, founder of Slocum Water Gardens and Perry's Water Gardens, earned an A.B. degree in biology from Cornell University in 1935. He held U.S. patents for several lotuses and hardy waterlilies and was one of the most important breeders of aquatic plants. He held U.S. patents for several lotuses and hardy waterlilies and was one of the most important breeders of aquatic plants. In 1986 the International Water Lily Society presented him with the Water Lily Hall of Fame Award, making him the first living person to be so honored. His nature photographs won more than 150 international awards, and he was elected an associate of the Photographic Society of America for his outstanding work in wildlife photography. Slocum died in late 2004, after completing his work on "Waterlilies and Lotuses", his last book. See less
