Peggy Mercer

Peggy Mercer, who drew deeply on her father's experiences as a paratrooper in World War II for this book, has been a teacher, a librarian, and a provider of state social services. She was born in rural Georgia, attended the University of Georgia, and now lives in Douglas, Georgia. She is the author of Ten Cows to Texas (Handprint) and runs The School on the Square, an arts program for children and adults in Nashville, Georgia.
