Paul V. Niemeyer has served as Circuit Judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit since August 7, 1990. From February 1988 to August 1990, he served as judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. Born in Princeton, NJ in 1941, he attended Kenyon College and the University of Munich. He received his J.D. in 1966 from the University of Notre Dame School of Law and was admitted to the Maryland Bar that same year. Judge Niemeyer practiced law at Piper & Marbury from 1966 to 1988. He lectured in advanced business law at Johns Hopkins University from 1971 to 1975. Since 1994, he has served as a Senior Lecturing Fellow in Appellate Advocacy at Duke University School of Law.
