Patricia Miles was born in 1930 in Lancashire, England. After graduating from Oxford University's Somerville College, where she studied Latin, Greek, and ancient history, she lived with her husband in Rome for a year before they settled town in the house where she still lives, in Hertfordshire, near London. Her first children's novel, "Nobody's Child," was published in 1975.
