Patricia E. Johnson is Professor Emerita of English and Humanities at Penn State University. She has published two articles on Ethel Carnie, one on her poetry (Victorian Poetry, vol. 43.3, 2005) and one on her fairy tales (Marvels & Tales, vol. 30.2, 2016). She is also the author of Hidden Hands: Working-Class Women and Victorian Social Problem Fiction (Ohio UP, 2001) as well as articles on the novels of Charlotte Bronte, Elizabeth Gaskell, Margaret Oliphant, Charles Dickens, and Pat Barker.
