Norma Jean Profitt
Profitt is a feminist social worker who has worked for many years in the fields of women's issues and violence against women. Profitt is a feminist social worker who has worked for many years in the fields of women's issues and violence against women. She was a board member, program committee member, and director of a transition house in Nova Scotia, and a member of the provincial coalition of transition houses. She also had a small private practice with women in Halifax, Nova Scotia. For five years she worked in Costa Rica with a rural women's organization and a feminist collective engaged in community organization and education. Dr. Profitt is currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, and is conducting research on the relation between women abuse and child abuse.
