Naomi Lazard

Naomi Lazard is an American poet and playwright. Born in 1936 in Philadelphia, she attended the City College of New York. She has been Poet-in-Residence atHamilton/Kirkland College and at the University of Montana and has published three books of poetry: Cry of the Peacocks (1967), The Moonlit Upper Deckerina (1977) and Ordinances (1984). Lazard is also the author of the children's book What Amanda Saw. Naomi wrote the screenplay for The White Raven and the play The Elephant and the Dove. She won two Fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and her poems have appeared in the American Poetry Review, The New Yorker, Harper's, American Scholar, Harper's Bazaar, Hudson Review, The Nation, Saturday Review, Chicago Review and other magazine and anthologies.
