Naim Haie is a Professor of Water Resources and the Environment at the University of Minho, Portugal. Naim Haie is a Professor of Water Resources and the Environment at the University of Minho, Portugal. Holding a Ph.D. from Utah State University, USA, he has been involved in projects in Asia, the Americas and Europe. His team was actively involved in the final approval of the European Union (EU) Water Framework Directive during Portugal's EU Presidency. Recently, he has developed the Sefficiency (Sustainable efficiency) and Sequity (Sustainable equity) frameworks to promote the best water management practices. He was the first to develop a hydrodynamic model of (surged) irrigation using an Eulerian system, and has served as Director and Vice-President of the Executive Board at the International Water Resources Association.
