Monte Dutton lives in Clinton, South Carolina, where he was born in 1958, and graduated from Furman University with a B.A. in political science/history in 1980. Dutton's first novel, The Audacity of Dope (2011), and second, The Intangibles (2013), were published by Neverland Publishing LLC, of Miami, Fla. Crazy of Natural Causes (2015) and Forgive Us Our Trespasses (2016) were published in July by Kindle Publishing through its KindleScout program. He writes short stories, several of which have been published in regional publications, at wellpilgrim.wordpress.com. He self-published a collection, Longer Songs, in 2016. Cowboys Come Home (2016) is a modern western set in Texas at the end of World War II. Lightning in a Bottle (2017) is the first in a series about a young stock car racing hero. Life Gets Complicated is a sequel to Lightning in a Bottle. Dutton authored several non-fiction books about auto racing, among them biographies of drivers Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart.
