Michael Shashar (Sharshavsky) (February 5, 1933 - May 25, 2006) was an Israeli journalist and thinker, born in Berlin, Germany to Dr. Shimon Shearshevsky. Michael Shashar (Sharshavsky) (February 5, 1933 - May 25, 2006) was an Israeli journalist and thinker, born in Berlin, Germany to Dr. Shimon Shearshevsky. When he was two, his family immigrated to Israel. He served as a spokesman for the military administration in Judea and Samaria in the period following the Six-Day War, and served as a spokesman for the Bnei Akiva youth movement in Switzerland and Austria, and later was the assistant to the defense minister, Moshe Dayan, who later served as minister of communications and media advisor to President Ephraim Katzir and the Israeli consul in New York. Michael Shashar wrote many books, including books on interviews with influential figures on Israeli society. He was close to Yeshayahu Leibowitz and saw himself as his disciple. See less
