In New York City, Parmele started her writing career as an editor and writer for newspapers and magazines. Afterwards, she began producing historical works, among them A Short History of England, The Development of an Empire: A Historical Outline of Rome, and The Evolution of an Empire: A Quick Historical Sketch of France.
