The Author's Biography: The Author, Martin Chapman grew up in a military family in both Portsmouth Virginia and Jacksonville, Florida. He is a 29-year retired law enforcement professional-twenty-one as a major crimes detective in the Burglary, Economic Crimes, Fugitive, and Homeland Security Units. His experience included writing detailed investigative reports, undercover investigations, surveillance operations, Field Training Officer, and a Florida State certified instructor at the police academy. In 2007, he was awarded the Medal of Valor for attempting to save an elderly man and saving the man's two caged dogs from a fully engulfed burning house. He was injured in the rescue and did not regain his vision for two weeks. The Medal of Valor is the second highest medal awarded for bravery at the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology and an Associate of Arts degree in Theater from Florida State University. He has written short stories and poetry for 35-years, and truly loves writing. The novel, Red Halos is his first published work. It is not only science fiction, but it also explores police culture and crime mystery. Martin lives in Jacksonville, Florida where he enjoys boating, fishing, gardening, and building. He lives in a quaint community with his twenty pet fish. He is currently writing his next novel, The Coke Bottle Slayer, a crime mystery about a sexual deviant that befriended a serial killer.
