The World Conservation Monitoring Centre is a joint venture of the World Conservation Union (IUCN), the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). The World Conservation Union (IUCN) was founded in 1948 as the Internatioanl Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources.
