She has a B.A. in Family and Community Services from Western Washington University. Gayle lives in West Richland, Washington, with John, her husband of 30 years. Their daughter, Katie, is away doing graduate work, and their son, Alex, is in high school. Gayle was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer in October 2010. She survived 18 months of aggressive treatments and enjoyed 15 months of living with no evidence of disease before being diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in June 2013. Since her original diagnosis, Gayle and her family have made hundreds of sets of prayer beads to give away to cancer patients and their caregivers. See less
