Manuel de Jesus Galvan. Nacio en Santo Domingo el 13 de enero de 1834. En 1854 fundo el periodico Oasis donde dio a conocer sus primeros escritos literarios. En el ano 1859 fue nombrado secretario particular del presidente de la Republica, el General Pedro Santana. En el ano 1861 fundo el semanario La Razon, desde donde celebro abiertamente la politica anexionista de Santana. Manuel de Jesus Galvan. Nacio en Santo Domingo el 13 de enero de 1834. En 1854 fundo el periodico Oasis donde dio a conocer sus primeros escritos literarios. En el ano 1859 fue nombrado secretario particular del presidente de la Republica, el General Pedro Santana. En el ano 1861 fundo el semanario La Razon, desde donde celebro abiertamente la politica anexionista de Santana. Cuando el pais logro restablecer su independencia mediante la gesta restauradora, se traslado a Puerto Rico, y alli continuo sirviendo a Espana como Ministro de Hacienda. De nuevo en el pais, en el ano 1875, fue nombrado Diputado. Ocupo el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores en cuatro ocasiones. Su novela Enriquillo es considerada un clasico de la literatura dominicana, y para muchos, la mejor novela dominicana de todos los tiempos. Murio en Puerto Rico el 13 de diciembre de 1910. See less
