In 1990, he was awarded his Ph.D. from Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Dehli, India. He currently works as Senior Lecturer in Social Work, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, at Charles Stuart University, Wagga Wagga, Australia and as Associate Director and Key Researcher, Centre for Rural Social Research. He has won numerous awards, including the following: * Quality of Life Award 2001 from the Association of Commonwealth Universities * Faculty Award for Research Excellence 2001 * ICSSR institutional Doctoral Fellowship * Best Student-Alumni Association Prize * National Merit Scholarship * Rank Holder, Karnataka University.
