After a short stay with an integrated steel plant, where he was involved in the production, planning and control of steel in 300T LD converter as 'Junior Manager', he began his postgraduate study. Following graduation, he joined the Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory in 1989 as a scientist. His areas of research interest are materials and surface engineering for protection against degradation such as tribology, corrosion, tribo-corrosion, and nano-tribology. For the past decade, he has worked on the indigenous production and certification of aeronautical grade bearing steels and high strength plate steels for underwater vessels. He is also working on failure analysis of various aero-engine and naval components. Dr. Roy has more than 125 papers in various reviewed national and international journals. He has edited two books on Surface Engineering for Enhanced Performance against Wear and Thermal Sprayed Coatings and Their Tribological Performances . See less
