M. Ismail Marcinkowski, b. 1964 in Berlin (West), is an established award-winning scholar from Germany and has published more than 50 articles in leading journals in the United States, Europe and Asia, as well as several books in Iranian, Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian Studies. Dr. Marcinkowski has lived for several years in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. He is a member of several distinguished scholarly associations in the United States, Europe and Asia. Until 2003 he had been Associate Professor of History at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
