Louise Varese
Louise Varèse (1891-1989) was an American writer and translator, known for her translations of French authors including Baudelaire, Sartre, Proust and Simenon, as well as Julien Gracq. In 1969 she was named a Chevalier de L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Republic.
