Lloyd Price was born in Kenner, Louisiana, on March 9, 1933. In the 1950s Lloyd dominated the Billboard charts, which was the beginning of a stellar music career. In addition, Lloyd partnered with Don King to distribute boxing events that were shown around the world, including Muhammad Ali's famed Rumble in the Jungle. Lloyd Price was born in Kenner, Louisiana, on March 9, 1933. In the 1950s Lloyd dominated the Billboard charts, which was the beginning of a stellar music career. In addition, Lloyd partnered with Don King to distribute boxing events that were shown around the world, including Muhammad Ali's famed Rumble in the Jungle. Lloyd later developed affordable housing in New York, and erected forty-two townhouses in the Bronx. In 1993 Lloyd toured Europe with Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, and Gary U.S. Bonds, and in 2005 he performed with fellow legends Jerry Butler, Gene Chandler, and Ben E. King as the Four Kings of Rhythm and Blues. The concerts were recorded for a PBS television special and DVD. In 2010 Lloyd was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame, and appeared and sang in the Season 1 finale of the HBO series Treme . Lloyd currently manages Icon Food Brands and a line of clothing and collectibles, and is working on Lawdy Miss Clawdy , a Broadway musical.
