Lillian Allen
Lillian Allen moved from Jamaica to North America in 1969. After studying in New York and Toronto she emerged as a birth mother of dub in Canada, performing at countless events. She has three albums for adults and one for children, and two books for children and young people. A cultural worker and arts activist in Toronto, Lillian Allen is also a writer of plays and short fiction and is involved with film-making. Her poetry is collected in "Women as this Every Day: Selected Poems" (1983).
