Liesbeth Heenk is a Dutch art historian specialized in Van Gogh. After completing her BA and MA in art history at the University of Leiden, she started to work as an assistant curator at the Kroller-Muller Museum in Otterlo for the centenary exhibition of Van Gogh's drawings in 1990. Liesbeth Heenk is a Dutch art historian specialized in Van Gogh. After completing her BA and MA in art history at the University of Leiden, she started to work as an assistant curator at the Kroller-Muller Museum in Otterlo for the centenary exhibition of Van Gogh's drawings in 1990. She then moved to London to write her dissertation at the Courtauld Institute of Art on Van Gogh's Drawings: An Analysis of their Production and Uses (1996). Rather than returning to Holland upon completing the doctorate she stayed in London for four more years to work for Christie's, the international auction house. She then wrote the catalogue raisonne on Howard Hodgkin's printed oeuvre for Thames & Hudson and organized an exhibition on Rembrandt's etchings at the Rembrandt House Museum before she worked as Director Business Development for Sotheby's in Amsterdam for nine years.
