Lewis R. Binford is regarded as the founder of the processual archaeology movement and a leading archaeological theorist for over past 40 years. He taught at University of Chicago, University of New Mexico, Southern Methodist University, and Truman State University. He is author of a dozen books on archaeological theory and archaeology of Arctic North America. He was recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for American Archaeology.
