Lewis Carroll

Lewis Carroll (1832-1898) was the pen name of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, an English mathematician, professor, photographer, and artist. He first concocted Alice's Adventures in Wonderland as "Alice's Adventures Underground", a story to entertain his boss's young daughter Alice Liddell and her sisters. The girls demanded more and more of the tale, so he expanded it and eventually wrote it down.
