Dr. Geddes was born in Scotland and educated in Canada, where he received his B.S., M.S., and D.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec. He received a Ph.D. in Physiology from Baylor University College of Medicine, Houston, TX. Dr. Geddes was born in Scotland and educated in Canada, where he received his B.S., M.S., and D.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec. He received a Ph.D. in Physiology from Baylor University College of Medicine, Houston, TX. While at Baylor, he was Assistant, Associate, and then full Professor of Physiology and Director of the Division of Biomedical Engineering. In 1985 he was the Rosenstadt Professor of Health Science at the University of Toronto. At present he is the Showalter Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University. He continues to serve as a consulting editor to numerous scientific journals and was a consultant to NIH, FDA, NASA, and NSF. Dr. Geddes is a member of the American Physiology Society, and a fellow of the AAAS, the American College of Cardiology, the Australian College of Physical Scientists in Medicine, and the Royal Society of Medicine.
