Lawrence Drake Williams
Lawrence Drake Williams, Jr. taught Texas History at Alamo Heights Junior High School for twenty-two years. After years of student suggestions to "write a history book with stories," Williams started the process of creating a biography for each Texas flag. Williams was married, with two daughters. He died in January 2004. Texas and Her Fifty-Nine Flags was nearly complete at the time, and his surviving daughter finished the manuscript and published it posthumously.
