Lavana J. Kindle, affectionately called "Moo Moo" by her grandchildren and "Mrs. Lavana" by her students, has worked in the field of education for more than 30 years. Lavana J. Kindle, affectionately called "Moo Moo" by her grandchildren and "Mrs. Lavana" by her students, has worked in the field of education for more than 30 years. She holds a teaching certification with A.C.T.S. and has taught Kindergarten through 12th grades. Mrs. Lavana has also taught for the University of Arkansas and SAU Tech before coming to SAU. She joined Southern Arkansas University (SAU) in January 2008 as the Student Support Services' Supplemental Instruction (SI) Coordinator. She has also served as the Tutor Coordinator, and this is her main role now. Mrs. Lavana is an adjunct instructor at SAU and currently teaches the PASS Class (Probation Recovery) and Transitional Reading Paired with Psychology. She has also taught ESL writing classes at SAU. Another career track has included counseling. Mrs. Lavana holds a B.S. degree in Sociology from Ouachita Baptist University and a M.S. degree in Social Agency Counseling from Henderson State University. She earned her second master's degree in December 2017, this time from SAU and in Education. Formerly, she was in private practice counseling under supervision in Arkansas and Colorado and now provides pastoral assistance at her church as an ordained minister. Mrs. Lavana is currently in the process of obtaining her Licensed Associate Counseling license with the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling. Mrs. Lavana has a passion for creating programs that do not exist. She enjoys assisting individuals and groups, helping them succeed and making their dreams come true. Mrs. Lavana and her family have lived twice overseas in Haiti when their children were young. Other countries she has visited for pleasure and missions' trips include Ghana, West Africa, where she taught music in the model school for the country's government; Mexico; Puerto Rico; Ecuador; Canada, and Romania. Besides travel, other passions include playing woodwinds, stringed instruments, and keyboards, cooking, and hosting groups at her family's retreat center. She and husband Lee have been married 41 years and love entertaining and traveling! Lee is a professional, career forester and works for a small, family-owned private timber company in Camden. They have two grown married daughters, six granddaughters, and one not very spoiled grandson! See less
