Larry Francell has degrees in history from Austin College (B.A. - thank you Dr. Ed Phillips) and UT-Austin (M.A.) and began a 50-year career in museums as a summer ranger at Fort Davis National Historic Site. For the past 20 years he has also been involved in Jeff Davis County government in several elected and appointed positions. He has always been intrigued by why the Army never changed the name of Fort Davis, and even though he must have been a perplexing and challenging character, has a much greater affinity for Jefferson C.
