Kortright Davis is Professor of Theology at Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, DC. He is also an Anglican priest, having served in several pastoral capacities in the Caribbean and the United States. Kortright Davis is Professor of Theology at Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, DC. He is also an Anglican priest, having served in several pastoral capacities in the Caribbean and the United States. He was born in Antigua in the West Indies, educated at Codrington College in Barbados, where he also served on the faculty for some time. He was one of the founding executive members of the Caribbean Conference of Churches, and was the principal coordinator of its inaugural assembly in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1973. He holds degrees from the University of London, the University of the West Indies, and the University of Sussex. He has also been awarded honorary degrees from the General Theological Seminary, the Virginia Theological Seminary, St. Paul's College, Virginia, and the Doctor of Laws degree (LLD) from the University of the West Indies. He is a former member of the Anglican Roman Catholic International Commission (ARCICII), the Inter-Anglican Theological and Doctrinal Commission (IATDC), and the Faith & Order Commission of the World Council of Churches. He continues to serve as commissary for more than one Anglican diocese in the Caribbean, and is an honorary Canon in two Caribbean cathedrals. He is the author of several books, articles, and chapters, including his widely acclaimed "Emancipation Still Comin'" and "We Belong To Big Church" (Tellwell). He and his wife Joan reside in Kensington, Maryland, USA, and are the proud parents of three grown children and five grandchildren. His linkages with his Caribbean (Antillean) heritage are highly durable and sustaining, and his vision of a brighter and better future for the region remains undaunted. See less
