Kenneth J. Andrien received his B.A. from Trinity College (1973) and his M.A. (1975) and Ph.D. (1977) from Duke University. He is author of Crisis and Decline: The Viceroyalty of Perus in the Seventeenth Century (1985, UNM Press), and The Kingdom of Quito, 1690-1830: The State and Regional Development (1995, Cambridge University Press). He has also published numerous articles in journals such as: Hispanic American Historical Review, Journal of Latin American Studies, The Americas, Colonial Latin American Review , and Past and Present .
