Kathy Abascal has a degree in neurobiology and biochemistry. She worked for a number of years on a variety of clinical research studies before obtaining a Juris Doctor degree. After practicing law for a number of years, she returned to health care- this time the study of medicinal plants. As a professional herbalist, she wrote several texts on botanical medicine as well as numerous articles for professional journals. As the years wore on, she began gaining weight and experiencing aches and pains that she initially attributed to aging but these changes caused her to begin shifting her focus from herbal medicine to nutrition. She simply started eating with the specific goal of quieting inflammation. The immediate, positive results she experienced motivated her to begin teaching TQI anti-inflammatory diet classes and to write the book "The Abascal Way to quiet inflammation." See less
