Kathrin Perutz's first novel, The Garden , was accepted for publication in 1960, when she was 21, living in London after graduation from college. She published several novels after that, including A House on The Sound , which landed her in the headlines of the major Sunday papers (Book section) and in the arms of Bond, the first James Bond, where she turned 25. Returning home to the U.S. after that, she married, had a son and continued writing, not only novels, but books of non-fiction, journalism and, as Joanna Kingsley, a couple of New York Times Best Sellers that were published in 18 foreign language editions. She traveled widely, first as a child and later for research and pleasure. In 2000 she and her husband Michael Studdert-Kennedy, a renowned linguist, returned to her native New York City, where she has lived ever since, a true New Yorker who wants things done yesterday and would like to secede from the current state of the union. Her most recent book is Time for One More: Essays at Midnight (2017). See less
