Karl E. Lonngren received his B.S., M.S. and PhD from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has been a Professor in the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Physics and Astronomy at the University of Iowa since 1965. Karl E. Lonngren received his B.S., M.S. and PhD from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has been a Professor in the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Physics and Astronomy at the University of Iowa since 1965. His interests have been in linear and nonlinear wave propagation in plasmas where he is carried out theoretical and experimental research. In addition, he has carried out research at the Oak Ridge and Los Alamos national laboratories, the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, the University of Saskatchewan, the Institute of plasma physics in Nagoya, Japan, and the Institute of astronautical research, Tokyo Japan, and the Danish Atomic Energy Commission in Riso, Denmark. He is the author or co-author of more than 200 journal articles and 5 technical books.
