Josiah Priest
A harness-maker by trade, Josiah Priest was born in 1790. He compensated for his lack of education with travels throughout America, becoming a talented author thereby. Among his popular books were Wonders of Nature (1826), View of the Millennium (1828); Stories of the Revolution (1836); and American Antiquities (1838). He died in western New York, aged 60.
