John F. Munro received his PhD in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. John F. Munro received his PhD in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is an associate professor in the Graduate Environmental Management Program at the University of Maryland, University College. His specializations include the role of innovations in promoting environmental sustainability, livability, and resilience; as well as the development of theories of adaption during periods of punctuated biophysical and institutional change. He previously served as a social scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and as the Small Business Innovation Research Program Manager for the Federal Highway Administration and the U.S. Department of Transportation's Volpe National Transportation Center located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dr. Munro is a member of the Transportation Research Board's standing Committee on International Cooperation. He has written multiple articles on the politics of climate change as well as the structural and cognitive dynamics of policy and institutional change within national and international natural resource management systems.
